ADP Toastmasters Club
The proven way to become a better speaker
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Our ADP Toastmasters club, founded in 1998, is part of a network of more than 10,000 clubs worldwide with over 200,000 members. Our learn-by-doing program is sure to help you become a better speaker and leader. Why pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join a Toastmasters club for a fraction of the cost and have fun in the process?
What's in it for you?
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is an efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills. By learning to effectively formulate and express your ideas, you open an entirely new world of possibilities. Youll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and youll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.
How does it work?
At ADP Toastmasters meetings, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical meeting is made up of 8 to 15 active members. The environment is friendly and supportive. Each meeting gives everyone and opportunity to practice the following:
- Conducting meetings. Meetings usually begin with an explanation of the meeting format and agenda, which helps members learn to conduct meetings by playing the toastmaster role.
- Word of the day and joke of the day. A member presents a short joke or humorous anecdote, and another presents an interesting or useful word.
- Presenting prepared speeches. Two or more members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.
- Offering constructive evaluation. Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Giving impromptu speeches. Members present a one- to two-minute impromptu speech on assigned topics.
- Club business section. Club-level announcements and decisions may be presented at the end of the meeting.
